Meet Ladonna, Mom Blog Society Mastermind

Today I have the honor and pleasure of interviewing, Ladonna, the mastermind of Mom Blog Society, a Knowledge Base for moms...by moms.

Ladonna, thank you for letting me interview you today.  I have really enjoyed being part of Mom Blog Society!  Mom Blog Society is the best place to network, learn and make new blogging friends all over the world.

P: How long have you been blogging?
L: I started blogging in 2006, my first blog was called Pajama Careers. I had a personal crisis in my life and ended up taking the blog down. But my main goal has always been building a blogging community, hence Mom Blog Society.

P: Do you have more than one blog?
L: No  (When you visit MBS, you will see why she doesn't have another blog:) )

P: What is your favorite part about blogging?

L:  I love the community of bloggers. I love to mingle and learn things from the vast knowledge of bloggers.

P: What do you think the ultimate goal of any blogger should be?
L: I think everyone has a different goal. But, blog for yourself, from your heart and enjoy what you do.

P: What made you decide to start Mom Blog Society?
L: I’ve wanted to start a blogging community for as long as I can remember.  I love meeting bloggers, reading their posts and getting to know people from all over the world.  There are so many bloggers out there that don’t get the recognition they deserve.  Mom Blog Society is designed to give bloggers just that, recognition,. We feature as many of our members as we can. We hope this gets them the recognition they deserve.  (My blog has been featured on MBS many times.  My followers have increased, my traffic, and my Alexa ranking has gone down!  I definitely feel recognized, thanks to MBS)

P: What is the goal of Mom Blog Society?
L: My goal for Mom Blog Society is to make it a community for bloggers who want total FREEDOM to share their ideas with others. A place where they can come and get meaningful feedback, share their knowledge, and hopefully get a lot of traffic to their blog.

P: What can the members of Mom Blog Society do to make our group enjoyable and useful?

L: Interact, speak your mind, don’t be afraid to let it all hang out. Visit members blogs and ask questions, everyone is there to help.

P: How much time do you spend working on Mom Blog Society?
L: Every waking moment. I want bloggers to know there is a place they can go that has little in the way of “limits”.  So many networks won't let you post this or that.  Mom Blog Society is all about the members and their blogs. I say, as long as it’s family friendly, post it!

P: Of course, you know I have to ask, can you tell us a few of your favorite blogs?

L: You mean aside from Pamela’s Pen? (Ha ha, thanks Ladonna) I’d have to say that one of my favorites is ProBlogger. His blog offers a wealth of information to the blogging community. Whether you are new or a seasoned vet, Problogger has something for everyone.  Honestly, I have many favorite “mom blogs“. I feel it’s unfair of me to list some and leave some out.   Besides, there are too many to list here.

P: If you could recommend a plug in, which ones would be most important?
L: One of the plugins I really like Sociable, it automatically add links to your favorite social bookmarking sites on your posts, pages and in your RSS feed. In the blog world, this makes it easy when a reader wants to share that particular post.

P: What specific tips do you have for new bloggers to make their way in the blogosphere?
L: Take the ProBloggers 31 Days to a Better Blog Challenge. You can take it with us on Mom Blog Society.  It starts October 1st.  Moreover, if you main goal is to get readers to your site, than joining social networks is a must. Interact with other bloggers, get to know them, become personal and more importantly don’t just take, give!

P: A lot of people are interested in blogging for the money earning potential. What are some tips for people interesting in making money from blogging?
L: Try different things, test them and you will find what works for you and what doesn’t. There are many ways to monetize your blog. Every blog has something that works for them, and something that doesn’t.

P: What networking do you do that you feel helps your blogging business?

L: I try to keep a personal feel in the networking. Although it’s hard to get to know each and every member of a community. I try, I think it’s important to interact on a personal level rather than a business level.

P: How do you keep coming up with material/content for your blog? Many people struggle with coming up with different articles/posts and they only have one blog.
L:Who says you can’t write about brushing your teeth in the morning, or spilling dog food all over the place when filling Fido's bowl?  Seriously, you can write about anything you want, the important thing is, write something everyday if you can.

P: What was the most challenging moment in your blog content development process and why?
L: My most challenging moment just happens to be marketing Mom Blog Society. I don’t want to spend a bunch of money pulling in members. I want to get personal and invite them based on the merit of their blog. This can be time consuming, but I feel it’s the best way for me and Mom Blog Society.

Thank you so much, Ladonna, for sharing your thoughts and passions with us.

Wonderful interview! I only JUST discovered MBS last night! I was thrilled to find it, but sad that the 31 days to a better blog link was closed by the time I found them. :(

I'm excited to get to know you and the other bloggers from there!
